SciFi Orbit is designed to do one thing for one group of people: be a social networking hub for science fiction fans.

All too often, the larger and more general social networking sites (like MySpace) can not adaquately service the needs of a smaller group of dedicated people within their own sub-genres. We plan on servicing that smaller group.

The creator of the site has been involved with science fiction fandom for over 30 years, but has been a 'fan' for about 40, going back to the original Star Trek (and Lost In Space too, although he seldom admits it!) He was the moderator for the international Star Trek echo on FidoNet for over 10 years, and grew that small, insignifigant echo conference into one of the largest conference on that network.

With friends in both the fandom and production arenas, he hopes to bring the two together here. We'll have to see about that. But even if that plan doesn't work, this is a welcoming place for sci fi fans from around the world.
